Airlander 10

Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) have announced new plans that will significantly change future transport in the Highlands of Scotland. The new plans will see up to six of the Airlander 10 aircraft undertaking regular flights across the highlands in a HITRANS (Highlands and Islands Transport) partnership.  The Airlander 10’s combined airship and fixed-wing technology can carry up to 100 passengers or 10 tonnes of freight payload or a mixture of both. This should significantly help transport in the highlands even in the most remote areas while giving a superb view of the local scenery. The aircraft will also find it much easier to land and take-off in the highlands than conventional aircraft. The intention is also that the Airlander 10’s four engines will eventually become electric enabling it to have 90% fewer emissions than similar conventual aircraft. This will assist HITRANS aim of having net-zero air transport by 2045. Production of the Airlander 10 is expected to begin by 2030.
